Tartan Hill Winery is a small family owned winery that opened for business in 1985.  It is located 3.5 miles from Lake Michigan on high terrain where winds off the big lake moderate the frigid winter temperatures and usually retard spring bud break until after the danger of frost.  Following the tradition of some of the classic wine regions, most of our wines are made from blends of different grape varieties.  This is why our wines carry proprietary names rather than varietal designations.  Some wines also will not have a vintage date on the label because they are made from a blend of several different vintages.  Since all of our wines are estate bottled (we buy no grapes, juice, or wine from other sources), our total wine production is very limited.  Also, because of our small size, our wines are only available at the winery or at a few stores in the area.  To find us, go thirty miles north of Muskegon or thirty miles south of Ludington on US 31 the 1.5 miles west on New Era/Stony Lake Road to 52nd Ave.
